How Bright Should Kitchen Lights be?

How Bright should Kitchen Lights be?

The kitchen is the heart of your home, and on average the kitchen has the lights on for longer periods of the day than the majority of your rooms in your home.

Lighting design and installation of lights in the kitchen plays a great importance.

The lights need to provide functionality for you to cook and see what you are doing. However they also can just be required for illumination for certain tasks in certain areas, or you just need some illumination when you are passing through, or just popping down at night for a cup of tea or getting something from the fridge. Lighting design is important in the kitchen.

For new kitchens or when more lights are required there is a lot of thought and work to go into this.

Do you need task lights over the counter top so you can see what you are cutting up for example on the chopping board?

A central light in the middle may provide satisfactory illumination, but if you have a central island there can be a number of choices here. There could be lighting within an extractor fan over the hob for example, or you may require some additional pendant lights over the island.

This can create a great effect should you be just using the island or you are going to be eating at the island and you do not need a full blaze of light whilst eating.

Under cupboard lights are great for when cooking as they provide additional light to the area. But can be switched off when you are just carrying out normal tasks or it is daylight and there is light streaming in from the windows.

When having a number of pendant style lights over a central island or Peninsula, it is important that you get all the lights level.

So who would've thought an electrician could have sorted a hot water problem? Well, after a plumber left us with an expensive bill and still no hot water, we called Bright Spark in the hope that they could at least tell us what the problem was. Lo and behold, within 30 minutes, Karen has given us hot water..............excellent service as ever from Bright Spark – thank you

Thank you for attending my “Emergency Call out” there was smoke coming out of my socket. I telephoned at least 15 electricians after 7:15pm (in the evening) when we discovered the smoke coming out of the Socket. Their phones not even being answered. The next on my list was Bright Sparks, who were the only ones to answer the call - literally within a couple of rings, and was answered by a lovely lady who reassured me that help would be on the way. The Call was sent to your emergency electrician who called back within 15 minutes, and was able to attend within the hour, and fix the problem. Thank you. Excellent Service
